Warning: Your shampoo may be killing you slowly
Ever wonder why there are as much warning labels in your shampoo, toothpastes and bubble baths? Those deceiving warning labels that says, “Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. Do not swallow. In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center IMMEDIATELY.” Isn’t it a bit freaky?
Well actually it is, according to the Journal of American College of Toxicology, one of the main ingredients of our cosmetic products is the Sodium Lauryl Surfate (SLS). It is commonly found in engine degreasers, garage/concrete floor cleaner, car wash soap, and like what we have mentioned earlier, shampoos, toothpaste and bubble baths.
Reports said that SLS once absorbed into your skin it could infect your heart, liver, lungs and brain, even if you wash it right off after using it. Also, according to the Research to Prevent Blindness, Inc. SLS once it builds up in your eye tissue it might be a cause of eyesight problems.
Even more the Medical College of Georgia have tested SLS and found that there are some cancer-causing nitrosamines once it is combined with many personal care products.
So, next time that you buy your shampoos and common beauty products, try to be a bit cautious and choose only those that are ecofriendly and ecogreen products. Products with organic ingredients offer the safest beauty solutions that could assist in cancer prevention and even work as natural remedies.
